Reaching the Community
Not everyone has the time or the resources to go to the theatre and see the performing arts. However, that should not be the limitation in people's lives that prevents art from being a part of everyday existence. It is our vision to bring opportunity to those who cannot have the arts in their lives on a regular basis. By this we will continue to find outdoor and/or public venues to perform in so we can bring dance to the audience instead of the other way around.

Professional Trainee Program (PTP)
Professional Trainee Program is an after school program designed to further the artistic and professional development of those students who want to enter the professional world of dance in any capacity. Going beyond the basic education of technique and theory work, PTP is a chance for students to investigate and experience the professional world of dance in a safe environment. We will work on all aspects of a career in dance including performing, working with different choreographers, teaching a range of genres and levels, choreography, college advice, production elements, collaborations, and many more. This will be a chance for students to ask questions, investigate ideas, and work with current professional performers, choreographers and teachers to learn first hand knowledge about what it takes to forge a living in the art form of dance. A collaborative project between Moving Ethos Dance Company and Booker High School’s Dance Department, the goal of this program is to offer students a chance to experience the professional world of dance in an environment that allows them to question and learn what it takes to be devoted to such a demanding career.
S-Squared
The S-Squared Project is an outreach and educational program where Moving Ethos Dance Company works with a group of high school students throughout the school year. The project is designed to investigate the process of using dance to express themselves while exploring topics that both interest the students and affect the community. In the past we have explored such topics as voting, the environment, adoption, individualism and discrimination, among others. As a group, the directors and the students decide on the theme, create the movement and mold the overall product of the dance. Through this process, we are able to talk, discuss, listen and find solutions all while using the art of dance to positively influence our communication. By the end of the school year, the group will have put together a complete dance that is ready to be performed for free for the community in various venues throughout the city. It truly gives the students a chance to positively impact their community while using their talents to effectively communicate their ideas.
This year, S-Squared is teaming up with Girls Inc. to create a piece about body image. Over a two month period, we will be working with 4th to 8th grade girls to talk about, learn, and explore ways to find a positive body image through dance. The girls will also help us to create movement that will be used in the performance to show them the direct correlation between the process and the product as well as showing a positive and effective way to communicate their thoughts and ideas. We are very excited to make the connection with Girls inc. and to provide another way for high school students to be leaders in their community while sharing their artistic talents.

Community Shows
Bringing arts into the community... Dance is not just for those who can travel to us, we must travel to you. Art is a reflection of our community, of the people who make up our society. To deny the opportunity to share performances and demonstrations with those who can not afford to buy tickets or find a way to the theatre would be against the very nature of what art is. Dance is a universal language that surpasses age, gender, religion and race. As long as you have a body, you have the ability to move. Moving Ethos wants to bring dance into the community to help people see the relevance of art in every day life.
School Shows
Bringing the arts back to the schools... so often when budget cuts hit our public school system, the arts are the first thing to get cut from the schedule. Yet few people realize the importance the arts have in the lives and development of our youth. Promoting individualism, expression and imagination through creativity, we try to show that the arts are a catalyst for problem solving and emotional recognition. Moving Ethos wants to bring dance and creative movement back into the schools through shows that are interactive, where students get a taste of what dance can do while connecting to their imaginations and emotions through movement.
